More needlefelting!
Oct 12th, 2009 by Cait

Once the novelty wears off, I’m sure I won’t post stuff here quite so often. Today’s critter is a blue dumbo rattie for the Huron Valley Rat Rescue auction/raffle!

He’s about 4′ long, not counting the tail. He’s made out of blended grey and blue dyed merino wool over natural wool for the body structure and tail, with polymer clay eyes. He’s got berkshire markings- white feet and a white belly spot and is just darn cute.

Learning a new skill…

I’m  teaching myself how to needlefelt! :)

I’ve thought this looked like fun for a while, so I decided to take the plunge and try it out. I haven’t been able to find any classes locally, but well, it looked easy enough, and turns out, it is! :) So far, I’ve created this little running Pembroke Corgi (shown in progress above- he’s now got eyes, shading, a nose, and more legs) and I am working on my first 3-D piece, a little (about 5″ wingspan) dragonet-type critter. The corgi will be sewn onto either a little wallet or a checkbook cover, I think.
