Sneak Preview of the needlefelted dogs…..

This little red and white Pem is about 4″ long and REALLY FREAKING CUTE. SHe’s got a quizzical expression and a slightly tilted head and her ears are FANTASTIC.

I hadn’t seen any Crestie needlefelted pieces, so I figured I’d make one. (To be fair, I don’t see a lot of crested stuff out there, period, which is a real shame, because they’re super cute dogs and TOTALLY do not look real.

This little dog is about 3×3″ and features heathered brown skin and crest and feathering made out of white alpaca fluff which has the most beautiful lustre to it.

This Cavalier is the first long-haired dog I’ve done, and I’m really happy with the way he turned out. (Yes, some of these are boys and some are girls, and only I can tell which are which. :P ) More of the shimmery alpaca fluff here, and the red is MORE alpaca.
I love the way his expression came out. I was worried I put too much hair on him, but when I look at show photos of Cavs, he looks okay.

And somehow I managed to miss individual photos of the golden and Schnauzer. :)

I’ve also got an Aussie and a Brittany in the works which I am going to try and finish up tonight, and I’m going to take my basket and work tomorrow at the show. :)

Learning a new skill…

I’m  teaching myself how to needlefelt! :)

I’ve thought this looked like fun for a while, so I decided to take the plunge and try it out. I haven’t been able to find any classes locally, but well, it looked easy enough, and turns out, it is! :) So far, I’ve created this little running Pembroke Corgi (shown in progress above- he’s now got eyes, shading, a nose, and more legs) and I am working on my first 3-D piece, a little (about 5″ wingspan) dragonet-type critter. The corgi will be sewn onto either a little wallet or a checkbook cover, I think.
